Changing Seasons

I am starting this post on Labor Day, the unofficial end of Summer. The mornings are starting to be a little cooler; the oppressive heat doesn’t last as long. Kids are back in school, and Halloween decorations are making an early appearance. The seasons are changing. This is my favorite shift of the year. My mood usually starts to pick up, and I look forward to milestones in the last months of the year. l have been doing some writing exercises, and one of them suggested writing about “I love fall leaves.” I am going to share what I wrote here.

I love the fall leaves. I love when a day starts crisp then warms up, but not too much. A cool breeze ensures that it’s not too warm and a hot drink is always welcome.

I love the orange, yellow, red, and even the brown mixed amongst the evergreens. I love green that much more when it is persistent while everything else shifts.

I love the crunchiness and the smell of fallen leaves. I love NOT raking them and allowing them to be a habitat for the unseen creatures.

I love the thought of holidays on the way and precious time with family.

I love the fall leaves. They always seem to turn too fast, and then they are gone. They remind me to stop and watch, smell, listen, taste, feel.

This is why I’m excited for fall fashion and Halloween decorations. I love the leaves and fall and everything that is coming.
